How to Calculate Your Test Score
To calculate a test grade, divide the number of correct answers by the total number of questions and multiply by 100.
Test Score = Correct Answers ÷ Total Questions × 100
Example
You answered 43 questions correctly out of 50.
- 43 ÷ 50 = 0.86
- 0.86 × 100 = 86%

How Many Questions Did I Miss?
To find the number of questions you missed:
Questions Missed = Total Questions − Correct Answers
Example
A test has 60 questions and you answered 51 correctly.
- 60 − 51 = 9 questions missed
- Your percentage score is: 51 ÷ 60 × 100 = 85%
So your result is: 51 correct, 9 incorrect, 85%.
How Many Questions Can I Miss and Still Get an A?
If an A begins at 90%, you generally need at least 90% of the questions correct. For a 50-question test: 50 × 0.90 = 45, so you need 45 correct answers, which means you can miss 50 − 45 = 5 questions.

How Many Questions Can I Miss and Still Get a B?
Using an 80% cutoff:
Required Correct Answers = Total Questions × 0.80
For a 50-question exam: 50 × 0.80 = 40, so you need 40 correct answers. That means you can miss 50 − 40 = 10 questions.
How Many Questions Can I Miss and Still Get a C?
Using a 70% cutoff:
Required Correct Answers = Total Questions × 0.70
For a 50-question test: 50 × 0.70 = 35, so you need 35 correct answers. You can miss 50 − 35 = 15 questions.
